INTRODUCTION: "Inside the Womb of Imagination, an Odyssey"

Creativity. What is it? Where does it come from? How does it happen? How do you keep it flowing? “Inside the Womb of Imagination, an Odyssey” is a journal I am writing intentionally to explore the answer to these questions and what we can learn about the interplay between creativity and ourselves. The theme is the creative flow.  While various processes are unique to each individual and genre, the creative process in general has things in-common with any creative endeavor -be it a website and eJourn, or other artistic work including painting, digital art, film & art production, theater, writing, comedy, and music [etc].

Creativity, as a concept, is an abstract one and yet it is common in humankind, manifesting itself in manifold ways- changing and growing through the generations. Creativity is not unique for just artists. All humans and even some animals, some would say, have innate creative abilities. Some use these abilities in a professional manner and others enjoy their abilities in pleasant pastimes; but all of humanity enjoys the works of creativity created by others. So, though it is abstract in concept it is part of the every man's experience.

“Odyssey; Inside the Womb of Imagination” will focus primarily on the creative process of artists. As the title implies, the analogy of life in the womb from conception to birth will help us to both wrestle with and hopefully take better hold of that energy known as the creative process. My personal perspective is that of a visual artist and creative writer. This journal is also a collaboration including other artists with other artistic emphases, and their own individual experiences. The website, Bluedwarf Studio, will serve as a gathering place in featuring this journey of fellow artists and their collective 'births'.  New “Odyssey” entries, or posts, will come as the creativity flows. There is a plan of order: conception, gestation, and birth. This is a journey- in every way. I hope that you will find it stimulating to your own creative M.O.. If so, please share this with someone else. Thanks!
